More froggy cards!

I couldn't sleep and gave up trying to design my new fairy in hobnail boots logo so made a couple more cards with my new Pink Petticoat frogs.

I used more free papers from a magazine from well over a year ago, bits of pink card I had in my box of scraps, half a flower from Imaginisce, Anita's sticky ribbon and a pink ribbon that came with several other ribbons from a cheapy shop! I used pencil crayons to colour the fab images.

I took this photo of the three together as they all co-ordinate quite well. You will have to excuse my photographic studio (my bed!) and don't look too closely at my pillow case which needs a bit of an iron!

I hope I have done the images justice and I hop(!!) you like the cards! I will see if I can get to sleep now as I have to be up soon!

A few changes

I have made a few alterations to my blog (mainly changing the subheading in the header box) as I am changing my "brand". Until today I always wrote on the back of my handmade cards "Handmade by Sarah with love" with a little heart above it in the centre but I am now going to design myself a new logo with "Fairy in Hobnail Boots"which is the nickname my Gramps gave me many years ago when I decided I wanted to join the army and I got my first pair of boots (which I wore around the house to wear them in but looked very silly with my short skirts, little legs and huge army boots!).

Very sadly Gramps has been losing his battle against cancer after recovering so well from other cancers previously and he has now had to go into a hospice. After losing my other grandad to cancer as well I can't thank charities such as Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie, and Macmillan nurses enough for the work they do and the help and support they give to sufferers and their families. When my Gramps has gone I am going to make cards to sell with all profits going to these three charities in memory of both my grandads and instead of my usual piece on the back of cards I make saying "Handmade with love by Sarah" I shall replace it with a new logo "Fairy in Hobnail Boots" as I loved my grandparents calling me that.

I have never sold any of my cards before so any advice would be appreciated as I want to make as much money for these charities as possible with so many lives being affected by cancer these days.

Great site

I couldn't sleep with so much going on at the moment so I have been looking at different blogs and finding out if I am doing things right or not with my new blog! I just came across a lovely site and they are giving away blog candy which is so amazingly generous of a years supply of there craft goodies!!! You can find Funky Fairys here and I recommend it as it is brilliant! I don't know what to buy first from their website!

Thought I should let everyone know so that you too can have a chance of winning such a fab prize. Good luck to all!

My gorgeous new froggies!

I have finally managed to make a new card with my adorable new frogs from Pink Petticoat. I love these images and so I hope that I have done them justice with the colouring in with pencil crayons, free papers from a magazine a long time ago, and these fab Anita sticky ribbons.

I can't wait to make some more now!

New Pink Petticoat!

I am so excited; I have just bought and downloaded two new sets from Pink Petticoat. I got the Hoppy Wishes for him and for her and they are so cute!! I struggled to decide which ones I wanted to buy but the frogs were my favourite and I couldn't decide between the two so got both! I will save buying the Lola Rose for Occasions and the Pom Pom Christmas trees until I have a job sorted as although they are good value I will just keep spending if I start now!

Hopefully I'll make a card this afternoon to show you the lovely little frogs!!

More crafting for today

Today I have made another card as I realised I don't have many birthday cards in my box of cards. I was amazed at how the stripes in the paper (from the DCWV Spring Stack) matched the embellishment (Papermania) and the beads on it. I also added Papermania adhesive gems.

I then made another page for my India Scrapbook. I was looking at these photos yesterday and wasn't too sure what to do with them and then I had a dream last night about the beige frame part way into the edge of the paper and I woke up and drew it down and then played with it this evening and came up with this!

I used Bazzill basics green textured card (it is darker green than it looks on the picture), Bazzill basics beige textured card, beige card from Craft Central pick and pay, papermania cork letters, flower from Sew Cute, an assortment of Papermania ribbons, Anita's sticky ribbons and ribbons from a a cheapy shop! Ribbons down the side say "explore", "discover" and "experience" and came from Hobbycraft, I drew round some chipboard letters I got from Capture the Magic and cut them out of beige card and inked the edges with a dark green ink pad from Lakeland, I used Whispers permanent pens for the green outline on the beige card and for the journalling.

Hope you like them.

Thanks for looking!

Loretta's Monday Challenge No. 15

Ok, so I know it's Tuesday today but I was too busy yesterday to do this challenge set by Loretta on the Do Crafts forum. She gave us a card map sketch and then I made this baby card. I don't know anyone about to have a baby and have a few new baby cards in stock already but I thought this tag went well for the long bit on the sketch!

Thanks for the challenge Loretta and hope it fits the bill ok!

New Home cards

As I mentioned before two of my friends have just rented a new place together and I went to their house party. I didn't manage to make their new home cards in time due to unforeseen circumstances so I promised to post them. I have made them today and really enjoyed making them. I used Pink Petticoat images which I have fallen in love with. I have never used images on my cards and never used crayons on my pages either but I like the outcome.

I used papers from the DCWV Spring Stack on both cards and then on the square card I used some pink paper from The Papermill, Anita's sticky ribbon, Papermania brad and a flower from Imaginisce.

I made a bow and added it to the tall card attaching it with a Papermania pearl brad.

Thanks for looking and any comments will be appreciated. Many thanks to Lisa for her help with inspiring me.

Todays work

I spent a lot of the day outside today as it was such a lovely day but when it got a bit too hot out there I came in and worked on this LO:

I used Bazzill basics black tie and spoiled brat 12x12 card, Imaginisce fabric flower, Papermania brad, Papermania adhesive letters which I coloured black with a Whispers permanent pen, Papermania adhesive gems, Anita's sticky ribbon and to be honest I'm not sure where the helm sticker came from apart from in a set of sailing embellishments. I wrote the journalling with a Whispers permanent pen.
Hope you like it!

Scrapbook Inspirations

I don't normally buy craft magazines apart from the Creativity one because of the price of them but I do love Scrapbook Inspirations and I heard that Ann C. and her daughter had their pages in it this issue so I went and bought it yesterday and I am so pleased I did because there are so many gorgeous layouts and great ideas. Well done to all involved in the magazine and whose LOs feature in it because they are all fab. It kept me up until almost 3am because I was too busy reading it!

More cards this afternoon

I have managed to make another couple of cards this afternoon inbetween job hunting and emailing my CV to various companies and agencies.

I am going to a party on Saturday night that is for my friend's birthday and also a housewarming party as she has just moved house with one of my other friends. I am yet to make their new home card but here is the card I have just finished making for my friend. I used Dovecraft Designer Papers A Hint of Pink, Papermania pink card, brad and Happy Birthday embellishment, Anita's ribbon and Imaginisce pink flower.
I also made another one of my sliding cards the same as the one I uploaded earlier so I just have two more of those to make now!

Thank you card

Yesterday I lost all inspiration and no matter how long I looked at photos and papers and embellishments I couldn't see anything that would work. I went to town and bought Scrapbook Inspirations which has such fantastic ideas and LOs in it but I still couldn't get anything to look right on my page so I went to bed!

This morning I decided to make my thank you cards for my family who gave me cards and money and gift vouchers to congratulate me on my graduation. I decided I wanted to incorporate some photos into the cards and so I made this:

The design came from a card that was project of the week on the Do Crafts website a few weeks ago. One of the girls on the forum set us a challenge to make one and so I did. I wasn't pleased with my first attempt but it showed me how easy it is to make but so effective. The sliding mechanism is so smooth and works really well.

I used Papermania red card, black and white paper from The Papermill, Papermania eyelet, piece of black ribbon that I cut out of a t-shirt (it was the ribbon they put in to hang tops up with), Papermania clear adhesive gems which I then coloured black with a Whispers permanent pen and finally the photos which I printed with my Epson printer onto glossy photo paper.

I just need to make another few of these now!

New LO for today....Backwaters of Kerala

This afternoon I sat down to do a scrapbook page so looked through my huge pile of photos still to scrap and looked through the papers I have bought recently and thought this papermania patterned cardstock I bought at the weekend went well with these beautiful photos from the Backwaters of Kerala. I traced round some wooden letters I bought from Poundland and some chipboard letters I bought from Craftwork Cards at the NEC a few years ago and then cut them out and inked the edges for the title. I used a white gel pen for the writing and dots and lines round the photos. I made the ribbons from handmade paper and wrote peace, tranquility and beauty and attached them to the photo with papermania brads. I added a couple of papermania photo anchors and a sticker saying adventure which came in a set from Poundland and then my page was complete! I wanted to leave it quite plain to reflect the calmness of how the backwaters were.

Some of my cards

Poll - Scrapbooking or Cardmaking

Seeing as I love both and can't really decide between the two (if I really had to choose one I would say scrapbooking) I have added a poll on here (right hand side underneath about me) to find out what you prefer. Will be interesting to see which one wins!
